October 6-18th, Dani will be joining EastARM in Tanzania to serve our projects along the Rufiji River as part of an exposure trip. LORD-willing, she will return in 2023 as a full time labourer with the mission.

Hi! My name is Danielle Herfst and I’m going to Tanzania! Missions is something that has been on my mind for a while. I have several relatives and family members who have served in cross cultural missions, so I was exposed at a young age to the idea.

When I was 12 years old, I actually remember telling people that I wanted to be a missionary. However, it wasn’t until I was about 18 years old when I started thinking seriously about it. Prior to that time, God had opened my eyes to see the lack of passion I had in my faith and the mediocre love I had for Christ Himself. As God grew me in my faith, I also grew in the desire for others to know Christ. God opened doors for me to go to college, and I continued in that direction. Throughout college I still felt the weight of the command of Jesus to go and make disciples. I prayed often that God would equip people to go to the nations. While I was still afraid to move towards missions myself, I did not neglect to serve where God had me at the time. Through different circumstances over the next period God continued to grow me to the place where I decided that I’d rather obey God in his commands than stay in a comfortable lifestyle. I had also come to know Graydon and Sarah Baker (EastARM) over the more recent years. I reached out to Sarah and explained the above. After that email things moved quickly! Now with the two-week survey trip on the horizon I continue to pray that God will grow my love for Him, and grow my desire to share the gospel through this trip. I hope to get a better grasp on how EastARM operates, as well as how my skills may fit into that. Lord willing this trip will open opportunities for a future in missions, however that fleshes out.
