It is simple to say, ‘Dinner Club’, but in practice it’s much more complex in the operation and impact of this exciting, ever-growing program.
From the bumpy drive on the road along the Rufiji, to the back-breaking work of preparing the meal, Dinner Club Ngorongo is consistently and steadily growing while attracting the entire village’s attention.
In March, a detailed list of the Ngorongo children attending was created, and it captured the names of 184 watoto (children). This is a great number, and it continues to grow each week with more little ones from the village arriving all the time.
For the first time in the history of this local community, an Easter weekend celebration took place on Saturday, April 16th, 2022. This may seem insignificant in North American culture, but for this part of the world it was a landmark moment-in-time. A huge feast was enjoyed, with 2 goats being served, as well as many other dishes for this special occasion.
After many months of hosting Dinner Club, it has become like clockwork to host this weekly Ngorongo event. Soon, it will be introduced to 3 more villages on a regular, weekly schedule. Understandably, this will touch hundreds more children and eventually, even beyond each of these villages and into the entire Rufiji River area.
To try and paint a picture of the children at each week’s Dinner Club is nearly impossible, as they won’t all fit into one frame. Let’s praise God for His work among these sweet young lives. It’s a beautiful thing to watch them being cared for by the Tanzanian staff and seeing the joy shown on these tender and soft-hearted children’s faces.
It is satisfying to know that EastARM is fulfilling its purpose in the places and to the people where God has directed. May we be faithful to you, our partners in mission, as you faithfully provide for the work ahead!
